Electricity isn’t something you can simply look at and see if it is in good working order.
You can’t inspect cabling that is buried inside walls, and even if you could, how would you know if there is anything wrong? It follows the saying, ‘out of sight, out of mind.’ If it isn’t something you think about all too often, it is usually something that is left alone only until there is something wrong.
However, the thing you don’t want is for your electricity to blow and you not have a clue what could be wrong, or even worse, it sparks an electrical fire and you are left with property damage or even a fully blown house fire. But there is a way of preventing this disaster before it arises.
Condition Reports are ways that you can ensure the safety of the electrics within your property.
There are two types of condition reports, one being a visual condition report, and the other being periodic inspection report. The visual condition report is only suitable if the installation has already been tested recently, as this report does not include testing. The periodic inspection report actually tests the installation and can find anything hidden that may be damaged and in need of repair.
With a condition report, your electrician will be able to test for any damage or general wear and tear that could affect your safety and discover any components that could cause electric shock or high temperatures that could result in fire. They can also record the results and provide you with a report of the safety of the installation.
These condition reports are the only way to check that all of your electrics are completely safe for use, and that way you can have peace of mind, even with the things you can’t see.
